No.9 (formerly listed as Cottage 50 yards W. of Vicarage on opposite side of road)

Cottage mid-late C17 with right hand bay much rebuilt in c1800
and small wing to rear added probably in C18. Mostly timber
framed, plaster rendered on brick plinth with c1800 brickwork to
front wall of right hand bay. Steeply pitched gable roof of
long straw thatch, but bay to right hand re-roofed c1800 and now
with mansard roof and plain tiles. Ridge stack of gault brick
and c1800 end stack. Three bay plan with lobby entry. One
storey and attic. Two dormers. Two shuttered horizontal
sliding sashes on either side of doorway with panelled door.
Interior has exposed timber framing of oak, elm and pine. Two
rooms have stop chamfered main beams and joists laid on edge.
Abutting hearths generally of red brick, one with bread oven and
both with salt cupboards with shaped heads.
