12/71 Kirk House 16-11-1954 GV II

House, early C18th. Coursed slobbered rubble with stone slate roof. A symmetrical composition of 2 storeys and 2 bays, with end stacks. Windows have stone surrounds with angle bead mouldings and square mullions and transoms. Those on the 1st floor are of 6 lights. Those on the ground floor are now of 5 lights, with the mullions and transoms restored in timber. The door has an architrave with pulvinated frieze and moulded segmental pediment. The door itself has bolection mouldings to the lower panels. The upper panels, now glazed, have moulded surrounds and rounded shouldered heads. Above on the 1st floor is a blank circular plaque with moulded surround. Interior. The right-hand front room has a wide chamfered fireplace with segmental arched head. Set into its side wall is a bread oven.
