WIMPOLE PARK OLD WIMPOLE TL 3451 (West side) 14/155 The Great Barn, at Park Farm, about half mile north east of Wimpole Hall
GV II*
Barn. Circa 1800 by Sir John Soane. Restored. Timber framed, weatherboarded on brick plinth. Combed wheat reed roof, half-hipped. Eight bays with two mid-streys on south side. Interior: Jowled heads to posts, braced tiebeams and Queen post roof with bracing struts to principal rafters. Straight wall bracing. Some inserted timber. The barn forms one side of the farmyard and is one of a planned group of farmbuildings built for Earl of Hardwicke.
