7/20 Daniels Farmhouse 11.11.1966 II

Farmhouse, probably mid- to later C17, enlarged in C18, recently derelict, now (1985) undergoing renovation as house. Square sandstone rubble with quoins (additions of rendered brick), roof cladding of blue slates replacing stone slates, with rebuilt stone chimney at left gable. T-plan: 2-unit gable-end baffle-entry house with added rear wing. Two storeys, facing away from road; front has cavetto-moulded mullion windows on both floors: at ground floor 2 lights (firewindow) and 7 lights under one hoodmould, and 5 lights with hoodmould, and at 1st floor two of 5 lights. Left gable wall has former doorway now altered as window; right gable wall has a similar 5-light window with hoodmould at 1st floor and a 3-light attic window; rear has remains of similar windows mostly concealed by the addition (which is of less interest). Interior: large inglenook fireplace with stone heck and ovolo-moulded bressumer; one large lateral beam in each bay, both with stopped ½-round moulding, supported on moulded stone corbels; remains of former mullioned windows on both floors of rear wall now mostly concealed.
