Details
SADDLEWORTH RUNNING HILL GATE SE 00 NW (north side) 4/253 Boots Cottage, Bank Top (formerly listed under Gellfield 19/6/67 Lane) G.V. II House, now garage. Lintel dated "1633". Hammer-dressed stone, coursed rubble and watershot stone with graduated stone slate roof. 2-bay single-depth house with 2 storeys and later barn added to left. Quoins. Door to right the lintel having a double-quirked bead and carved date. 2 garage doors are inserted to left. Two 3-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows to first foor. Gable chimney stack rebuilt in brick. Barn has cart entry with massive stone lintel, door to left, quoins and winnowing door to rear. 2 blocked windows to gable. Remains of 2-light double-chamfered mullion window and a 2-light flat-faced mullion window on rear. Bulletin of the Saddleworth Historical Society, Vol.3, No.1, 1973.
