Details
ZEAL MONACHORUM SS 70 SW 4/77 Tuckingmill Bridge - II
Road bridge over River Yeo. Probably late C18, with C19 parapet. Local mudstone rubble, granite ashlar coping but nearly all replaced by C20 concrete. The main bridge has 2 round-headed arches with plain vaults springing from a slighly projecting plinth to the abutments and cutwater. On the Zeal Monachorum Village side (north-west) there is a smaller segmental arch to accommodate floodwaters. The cutwater is pointed both ends and rises to a flat top below parapet level. The parapet projects a little both sides and its untidiness suggests that it is secondary. There are terminal piers projecting slighly externally on the north-west end only. At the other end the parapet curves out on both sides. The roadway ramps from north-west to south-east.
