Wyndham enclosure in burial ground

II

Family burial enclosure. Circa 1912 by Detmar Blow for Wyndham
family of Clouds House (q.v.). Limestone dwarf walls enclosing
square enclosure on two sides, south side bounded by higher ashlar
wall with coping incorporating five pedimented inscription tablets,
including one to Percy Wyndham builder of Clouds who died 1911,
north side facing rest of burial ground open. Central feature is
octagonal cross on square base with carved crocketed finial with
Calvary. Several family graves; two with bronze-covered
horizontal wooden crosses with raised Art Nouveau style lettering,
bronze grave cover with angel to Edwina Wyndham died 1919, cast-
iron railed enclosure decorated with angels and guilloche to George
Wyndham died 1915. Inscription tablets set in south wall to other
members of family, several unused.
