Addison House
II
Rectory, now house. c1870. Roughcast, with tiled roof. Two
storeys, 3 bays with rear gable to left bay and service wing on
right. Central stair hall and flanking reception rooms. Flint and
brick gabled porch with chamfered stone door surround to central
bay. Hollow chamfered stone-mullioned windows, those to ground
floor also with transoms, and diagonal widely spaced leading.
Right and left bays gabled to front. Brick stacks. Single dormer
to rear. A rebuild of and adjacent to the site of the C17 rectory
in which Joseph Addison, essayist, was born.
