Market cross. Medieval cross, perhaps C14. Stone. 4 worn square steps.
On top, weathered hexagonal column capital used as base, supporting
octagonal ashlar column with plain cornice. C20 apex stone and wrought-iron
cross. Market and yearly fair granted to Ralph Neville in 1389. Celtic-
style cross-head of c1920 now in the parish church. Scheduled as an Ancient
Monument. VCH, i, p 251.
