SWALLOWFIELD CHURCH ROAD SU 76 NW (north-east side) 8/40 Dovecote House, Swallowfield Park (Formerly listed as Barn 14.9.81 to South-west of Swallowfield Park and to South of Dovecote) G.V. II Barn, now house. Late C17 and C19 altered late C20. Timber frame with weatherboard, part brick infill, and part brick. Old tile gabled and half hipped roof. L-plan 5 framed bays x 4. One and 2 storeys.Most windows C20 casements with horizontal glazing bar, some sashes with large panes. Entrance front:- a large 6-light window projecting from wall with small tiled pent roof and brick cill. On the left 2 bays, casement windows those on the ground floor have segmental brick arches; 6-panelled entrance door to the left of these in moulded architrave frame with flat moulded hood over. On the extreme right a projecting lean-to with small casement on the return wall. South front:- Roof sweeps down to low level over former aisles. Recessed verandah on left with 3 sashes in architrave frames. Gabled wagon entry has large 4-light window in weatherboarded surround. Small window and garden door to right of gable. Much of the frame exposed internally, with queen post trusses and straight braces.
