Details

SWALLOWFIELD CHURCH LANE SU 76 SE (South side) 12/26 Farley Hill Farmhouse G.V. II Hall house now farmhouse. Late C15 altered C17 and C20. Part timber framed with painted brick infill, part rendered, part brick; old tile gabled roof. L-plan, 2 x 2 framed bays with crosswing on east, hall and solar on west; C20 extension in angle. 2 storeys and one and a half storeys. Chimney on ridge near centre and large flanking chimney on right. C20 casement windows. Entrance front:- 2 bays on left, upper level windows in small gabled dormers; 4-panelled entrance door on right with C19 gabled porch with side trellis. One bay gable on right with gable framing exposed; a 4-light canted bay on ground floor with small hipped tiled roof. Interior:- good quality timber frame with large curved kneebraces and windbraces. Beams and joists on ground floor chamfered with run out stops. Inglenook fireplace on west side and an elaborately carved early C20 wooden chimney piece by former owner.
