Details

WOKINGHAM ROSE STREET SU 8168 NW (South east side) 18/71 No.33 (formerly listed as 12.11.51 Nos. 33, 35, 37, 39) G.V. II* Hall house, now small house. Late C15, re-furbished 1958. Timber framed with painted stucco infill; part brick. Old tile steeply pitched gabled roof. Rectangular plan of 2 framed bays, former hall in south east bay; formerly jettied on road front. 2 storeys and attic. Road front:- one bay gabled. Ground floor underbuilt in brick, ends of jetty joists still visible; large central small pane window. Upper floors have timber frame exposed with long tension braces on each level, a C20 3-light diamond leaded casement on the first floor and a similar 2-light on the attic level. Side elevation on south west re-built in brick. Interior:- fine timber frame exposed, wide ceiling joists in north west bay, later joists in former hall. Queen strut roof. Many carpenters marks in correct sequence.
