BRAY CONINGSBY LANE SU 97 NW (north side) 10/19 Fifield 11.04.72 Old Lodge Farmhouse II
Hall house, now house. Late C15, altered and extended C19 and mid C20. Part timber frame encased in painted render, part painted render. Old tile gabled and hipped roofs, half hip facing road. Rectangular plan formerly of 2 framed bays to hall and one bay service end; now L-shape with extensions. Part one storey, part one-and-a-half storeys. 3 chimneys. Entrance (west) front: irregular. One-storey extension on left with 2-light diamond-leaded casement window and plain door. Centre section; gabled roof dormer with 2-light casement, C20 rooflight on right of this. Ground floor; C20 gabled, enclosed entrance porch with plank door nearly in centre: 2 small 2- light diamond-leaded casement windows to left of porch, one similar, 2-light window to right of porch. Gable (south) to road: left section gabled with half hip roof of old house. One 2-light casement on upper level with lozenge shaped panes. Canted bay window with pent roof on ground floor of 4-lights and one-light returns, with similar panes. Extension set back on right with plain gable facing road. Interior: sooted timbers in roof with redundant crown post truss, and large arched braces.
