EAST ILSLEY BROAD STREET SU 48 SE (South side) 3/29 Kennet House 25.10.51 (Formerly listed as Kennett G.V. House and Stable block) II*

House. Early C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Red brick; hipped tiled roof. Long rectangular plan running east/west- with 3 gabled wings at right angles to south. 2 storeys and attic; plinth, moulded band at first floor, rubbed brick flat arches to windows, bracketed timber eaves cornice, central pedimented dormer on north, flanking chimneys. North Elevation:- 8 glazing bar sashes with exposed box frames, the 6 to the left in the original build and the 2 to the right in a slightly later addition; 3 elaborate cast lead rainwater heads, 3 insurance plaques between 3rd and 4th sashes from left; 8 panel door in 3rd bay from left with raised and fielded bolection moulded panels in moulded architrave supporting frieze and keyblock flanked by carved scroll brackets under cornice curved back in centre to support shell pediment hood with cupid sitting on scroll at base of shell, 3 stone steps to door. Interior:- C18 bolection moulded panelling to hall, landing, ground and first floor rooms on east including bolection fire and door surrounds with matching doors; open well stair with moulded handrail ramping up to square newels and twisted balusters; rooms to west have dado panelling and plaster cornice.
