Details
BRAMPTON SK37SW WIGLEY 1264-0/2/119 Wigley Farmhouse 31/01/67 (Formerly Listed as: OLD BRAMPTON Wigley Farmhouse) II House. Early C17 with C18 and C20 alterations and additions. Coursed rubble Coal Measures Sandstone, with quoins and ashlar dressings, coped gables with moulded kneelers, ridge and gable stone stacks, and a concrete tiled roof covering. T-plan house, with off-centre lobby entrance. South elevation of 2 storeys and 5 bays, with former quoined corners to a central 3-bay range now incorporated within a 5-bay range, with the two end bays apparent additions. Off-centre doorway by former quoined corner at the east end, with plain stone jambs, now heavily rendered, and a shallow bracketed canopy. C20 glazed door. Added bay to east with 6-light recessed chamfered mullioned window incorporating two major mullions, beneath a drip mould. Above, a 3-light mullioned window of the same period. To the west of the doorway a 2-light flush mullioned window, and a former 2-light chamfered mullioned window, now with the mullion removed. Above, a 3-light chamfered mullioned window, the mullions widely spaced. The next bay to the west has stacked 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows. West bay also with stacked windows, of 2 lights, and also of greater width than what are presumed to be earlier mullioned windows. East and west gables are rendered and have two 2-light wide- chamfered mullioned windows. North elevation with projecting central gabled range, C20 doorway, and 2 former 2-light C17 chamfered mullioned windows above. The first floor opening with the mullion missing, and a blocked attic light above. The roof to the east of the rear elevation is a catslide roof, that to the right is the same height as the front pitch. C20 single-storey gabled extension to west end. INTERIOR completely remodelled.
