Details
BRAMPTON SK37SW BASLOW ROAD, Wadshelf 1264-0/2/118 (North side (off)) 16/09/91 Temperance House II House, formerly house and cottage. Mid C18, with C20 alterations, remodelled and extended in 1982. Coursed rubble Coal Measures Sandstone (front elevation now rendered) with ashlar dressings, ridge and gable ashlar chimneys, and a Welsh slate roof. Tall 2-bay range with attached lower L-plan range to east. South elevation has taller range to west, of 2 bays, with stacked 3-light flush-mullioned windows to western bay, and plain doorway to the eastern bay within a shallow pitched-roofed trelliswork porch, with decorative bargeboards. Above is an altered 2-light flush-mullioned window, a C20 restoration with C20 joinery. Lower gabled range to east with stacked 3-light flush mullioned windows, the ground floor opening taller than that to the first floor. Window frames mainly C20 joinery; door C20, of 3 panels, the uppermost panel now glazed. Rear elevation with brick gable stack, and stacked 3-light flush-mullioned windows, the taller ground-floor opening retaining 2 glazing-bar casements. Massive door surround , with deep lintel and shallow bracketed hood. C20 door. Steep catslide-roofed extension to west gable is attached to rear wall of front range. Small stone-slated lean-to to east of doorway. INTERIOR altered, but principal rooms to taller 2-bay range have exposed spine beams and joists.
