Lock. Late C.18. Brick lined chamber with stone copings. Wooden single top gate with pair of ground paddles and single gate paddle. Double bottom gates with gate paddles. Wood balance beams. Grassed lock quadrants. Brick wing walls with cast iron cantilevered tail bridge. This lock formed a staircase with lock 10, although addition opf a top gate to lock 10 has formed two locks separated by a short pound. Still effectively operates as a staircase.
