31/01/67 Walton Lodge II House. C18, with C18 and C19 alterations and additions.
Stuccoed stone, rising from an ashlar gritstone plinth, to
earlier part, moulded eaves cornice, rendered ridge stacks
with moulded caps, and a slated roof, laid to diminishing
courses. Earlier part to east, with shallow hipped roof behind
a shallow parapet, with added range to west, having a steeper
hipped roof. Main range: north elevation. 2 storeys, 3 bays,
symmetrical elevation with central doorway enclosed by shallow
curved porch, supported by 4 Tuscan columns, with plain frieze
and cornice, below C20 iron balustrade. 6-panelled door, with
raised and fielded panels, with semicircular fanlight with
intersecting glazing bars. Flanking the doorway are tripartite
glazing bar sashes, within stone frames, plain mullions
subdividing the openings. Central sash, 4 x 3 panes, flanking
sashes 2 x 1 panes. Lower range to west, of 4 bays, linked by
band course between windows of earlier range which extends to
define sills of lower range first floor windows. Ground floor
window openings all formerly 4 x 3 pane glazing bar sashes,
now with two C20 pivot windows. Upper floor windows all C20.
5-bay rear elevation with 4 x 3 pane glazing bar sashes, a
central tripartite garden doorway with flanking sashes, and
C20 glazed double doors below a segmental fanlight. Some
sashes to east have lost glazing bars. Lower range with hipped
wing into garden with 4 x 3 pane glazing bar sashes.
INTERIOR much altered, but good C19 cast-iron balustraded
stair leads to central landing. C19 six-panelled doors
throughout and C19 chimneypieces to principal ground-floor
rooms.
