Canal-side public house. Late C18/early Cl9 with some C19 additions. Flemish bond brick with painted brick dentil cornice. Old plain-tile roof has corbelled gables; brick end stacks. Central staircase plan, with wings towards canal to rear. 3 storeys and high basement; 3 bays. Symmetrical front has 6-panelled door with panelled reveals and fanlight. Moulded rendered doorcase bias Tuscan half-columns, paterae and open pediment. Brick and stone stairs have steps to left and landing with railings. Segmental-arched cellar door an left, Sashes have aoulded rendered segmental arches with ornamented key and impost blocks. Low second floor has 6-pane sashes without arches. Central bays are blind. Small altered C19 range to left. Altered gabled ranges to rear. The building is on the bank of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.
