Details
1. 5118 EX-MANGOTSFIELD UD HILL HOUSE ROAD No 91 (Hill House) ST 6576 8/187 24.4.51. II* 2. Said to date from circa 1700, but probably built for Edward Andrews circa 1743 (died 1793). Ashlar with hipped slate roof, good symmetrical 3 storey frontage. Five windows, central porch. Windows are sashes with glazing bars, in moulded architraves, panelled apron under each. Centre window over door has semi-circular-headed with keystone and Ionic flanking pilasters carrying triangular pediment. Window above has Corinthian flanking pilasters and segmental pediment. "Solid" porch with Roman Doric pilasters carrying flat entablature with blocking course, triglyph frieze. Square headed architrave door opening. Channelled end pilasters, moulded string course at first and second floor levels, moulded cornice, plain parapet with coping. Garden front plainer with one arched window in centre of first floor, hipped slate roof. Two storey, 3 window early C19 wing to south, glazing bar sashes in reveals, moulded panels between floors. Plain first floor band, astragal cornice, parapet. South elevation has blind asticulation, ground floor arcaded. Interior: good staircase and panelled ground floor rooms, raised and fielded panels to shutters of earlier part, fielded panels to shutters of later part.
