GREAT CHART THE STREET (south east side) The Old School

(Formerly listed as The Village School)

II Dated 1845 and similar in style to The Almshouses (qv). Probably built by the Reverend William Toke of Godinton. T-shaped front with a long wing behind to the south-east. Ashlar. Tiled roof with shaped Dutch gable ends to the north-east and north-west wings, pointed gable end to the south-west wing. The north-west gable end contains an attic window, a cartouche with the date 1845 under it and a bell at its apex. Five windows. Small porch at the north-east angle with a shaped gable over.
