WEST FARLEIGH CHARLTON LANE TQ 75 SW (West side) 2/15 Nos 1 and 2 The Hollow II
House, said to have been formerly a barn, now house pair. C17 or earlier, with late C18 or early C19 alterations. Timber framed. Tarred weather- boarding, some beaded. First floor of left gable end pebbledashed. Plain tile roof. No. 2 comprises short bay, containing stack, and two timber-framed bays to right, that to right end very short. 2 storeys. Jetty with solid-spandrel brackets to left gable end. Roof half-hipped to left, gabled to right. Multiple brick ridge stack to right of centre. Irregular fenestration of 3 casements; none to left, one three-light slightly to left of stack, one single-light under stack, and one three- light towards right end. One two-light casement to first floor of left gable end. Boarded door with flat hood well to left of stack to No. 1, and boarded door with flat corniced and bracketed hood under stack to No. 2. Late C18 or early C19 rear lean-to. Interior: only partly inspected. Exposed framing to No. 2, with gunstock-jowled posts and short arch-braces to tie-beams. Chamfered, arch-braced wall-plates. Blocked two-light first-floor window with ovolo-moulded cill and roll- and cavetto-moulded mullion, to rear of bay to right of stack.
