2. 1914 dated over entrance arch, by Adshead and Ramsey for the Duchy of Cornwall estate. Two storey quadrangle of almshouse type, in late Georgian style. Stock brick, low-pitched hipped slate roof of modern pahtiles with deep eaves soffit. Gauged flat brick arches to sash windows with glazing bars. Plain front of 15 bays with projecting ends and three bay centre whose paired, attached columns, with feather and whorl capitals, support enriched entablature. Bell cupola over entrance arch. Nos 2 and 20 are shops at north-east and south-east corners in period style. Within the quadrangle, at either side a central raised attic with four round windows. Tuscan loggia all around with balcony above. Six-panel doors in moulded architraves, those on first floor with console bracketed cornices. Central fountain with lead figure of boy.
