4/4 Stalactite Cave entrance
G.V. II
Entrance feature. Early C19. Rubble and uncut stone. A flight of 17 steps curves down between 2 retaining walls entered between 2 small piers with pyramidal caps; at the cave mouth there is a round headed arch below a rudimentary string on a retaining wall surmounted by a pediment, all roughly fashioned. One of an extensive set of picturesque estate features erected by the antiquarian Bishop Law of Bath and Wells on his Banwell estate.
