ST 56 SE CHEW MAGNA C.P. BATTLE LANE (east side) 3/16 Lodge about 80 metres south west 21.9.60 of The Rookery G.V. II
Lodge. Early C19 with later alterations. Rough cast and lined out, slate roofs with decorative stacks. Irregular hexagonal plan. Picturesque Gothic revival style. Single storey, 3-sided front has pointed arched door with glazed upper section with Gothic intersecting glazing bars, decorative panelled jambs and hood mould, to each side a paired pointed arched casement with intersecting glazing bars and flat hood mould. Right return has 2 similar paired windows, 3 ammonites set in wall, slightly higher block to rear right with separate pitched roof; stack to rear block has 2 chimneys with twisted vents. Left return of 2 storeys accommodating slope of site, to right 2 similar paired windows at upper ground floor level, to left lower ground floor level has C20 garage door with hood mould remaining from former opening, pointed arched door to right, glazed as on front with flat hood mould, upper ground floor left has similar triple window. Interior: not inspected.
