Details
WALTON-IN-GORDANO C.P. CLEVEDON ROAD (west side) ST 47 SW 3/118 Nos. 1 and 2 Manor Cottages G.V. II
Pair of houses at south east entrance to the Manor House, (q.v.) probably originally service cottages. Early - mid C19 with some later alterations. Snecked rubble with limestone dressings, double Roman tiled roofs with crestings and central ridge stack with diagonal chimneys. Gothic style, glazing as at the Manor House. 1 1/2 storeys, each cottage symmetrical, with central door with raised fillets and decorative strap hinges, 2-light casement to outer side, 3-light to inner side, all ground floor openings with hood mould, each has large off-centre gabled dormer with bargeboards and 3-light casement in plain surround, all glazing in octagonal leaded lights. Left return has similar scalloped bargeboards to gable,end, similar 2-light casement at first floor, lower 1 1/2 storey rear wing in course of rebuilding at time of survey (March 1985) with stack rising from eaves and 2 C20 single lights at ground floor; rear has single storey lean- to with similar bargeboards to eaves, 2 C20 casements and door, gable end of rear wing has 3-light C20 window at ground and first floor. Interior: not inspected.
