CLAPTON IN GORDANO C.P. MOOR LANE (east side) ST 47 SE 4/8 Sperring's Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C17, with mid-Cl9 rear addition and later alterations. Rubble, double Roman tiled roof, brick and stone stacks. In 3 sections, central part lower. From left, 2 1/2 storeys and one window, 3-light at ground floor and 2-light at first floor, C20 glazing with timber lintel, small off-centre gable above with lancet and hood mould, raised coped verge and gable stack to left; central block of 1 1/2 storeys has 2-light casement and C20 gabled porch with glazed door, small central gable with 2-light casement; block to right of 2 1/2 storeys has 2-light casement at ground and first floor, small central gable with similar opening. Right return has projecting bay with 2-light C20 casement at ground and first floor, possibly former site of stair, tall stone stack rising from rear; C19 addition to right has door and first floor sash with wider central pane. Left return has blocked window with hood mould at first floor and attic, 2nd attic opening to left, unglazed, with shutters and strap hinges; set back to left, C19 2-storey addition has door and 8-pane light with relieving arch over both, C20 plate-glass window above in gable end. Rear of main range has 2-light casement at ground and first floor right. Interior: not inspected.
