II

House. C16 origin, refronted early C18, with C19 and C20 alterations and
additions. Rubble, rendered except porch, plain tiled roof pantiled at rear,
with overhanging eaves and irregular brick stacks. L-plan, originally 2-room
through passage plan. 3 storeys and 4 windows, all sashes with thick glazing
bars in plain surround, only 6 panes each at 2nd floor, C17 porch in 2nd bay
from right with flat roof has cornice, elliptical window in moulded rectangular
surround with carved foliage in spandrels, and bull's eye to side with balls in
spandrels, C20 outer door and heavy studded 14-panelled inner door, weathered
cornice to ground and 1st floor windows, 5 S-shaped ties, raking buttresses to
south west side with 2:3 windows, all C19 sashes in plain reveals, C20 door,
rear has all C20 windows. Interior: 2 front rooms have heavy moulded beams
with run-out stops, now open-plan to left, front right has walls about one
metre thick and dado rail, 1st floor front right room has moulded and stopped
door frame, same beams as below, rear early C19 stair window, round-headed with
splayed glazing bars, late C20 stair.
