II

Farmhouse. C15, or earlier; altered late C16/early C17 and C20. Rubble; thatched
roof with overhanging eaves; rubble stacks. Mediaeval open hall house, possibly a
longhouse; ceiled in late C16; cross passage plan with hall and parlour to left and
kitchen to right. Single storey and attics in steep stone gable. 2 windows: 2- and
3-light C20 casements under exposed timber lintels, ovolo moulded lintel over hall
window. Blocked door to left and C20 arch-braced truss, double ovolo moulded beams
with converging stops. Chamfered beam to passage. Winder stair to parlour and
kitchen. Roof: 3 raised crucks with trenched purlins and windbracing over the
passage. (Hall L, Rural Houses of North Avon and South Gloucestershire, 1983).
