Lodge. 1832 by Henry Garling for Lord St. John. Ashlar, with limestone tiles to roof. 2-storeyed main wing, with single storey wings to 3 sides. Neo-Tudor style. S elevation: LH block has one 2-light casement. Central block has canted bay to ground floor, 2-light casement with label to first floor surmounted by carved plaque with St. John arms. RH block has gabled porch with 4-centred doorhead and entrance, the latter with moulded dripstone and stops, with Neo-Tudor chimney stack to rear. Decorated bargeboards and drop finials to gables. W elevation chimney stack has datestone. C20 flat roofed extension to W elevation. ("Garling, Henry", H.M. Colvin, Biographical Dictionary of English Architects. London. 1954. p.225.)
