720/3/1 CHURCH SQUARE 01-MAY-75 LEIGHTON BUZZARD (South side) CHURCH OF ALL SAINTS
I
Important medieval parish church. C13 with C15 windows and clerestory. Tower and broach spire 193 feet high. West door has fine late C13 scroll ironwork hinges ascribed to Thomas of Leighton (similar work at Eaton Bray). Carved Cl5 choir stalls with poppy heads and misericordes. C17 altar rails, carved cedar pulpit 1683. Brasses of 1597, l636. C15 vestry with 2 upper storeys north of chancel. Monuments include 2 with effigies, Wyngate 1603 and Welles 1645. Late C19 stained glass by Kempe.
