SP 9433-9533 WOBURN PARK STREET 8/143 23.1.61 N gatepier of pair adjacent to Lion Lodge GV II* Gatepier, forming a pair with item 8 / 142 approximately 10 metres to S. Lower part thought to be mid C18, upper part late C18. Ashlar pier, surmounted by Coade stone statue. Approximately 3 metres total height. Substantial rectangular pier, lower two-thirds with vermiculated rustication. Upper third of pier formed by entablature, with Greek key band to architrave, carved swags to W and E sides of frieze, paterae to N and S sides of frieze, and moulded cornice. Surmounting statue depicts recumbent lion, facing S towards road and other pier.
