- II
Farmhouse. Circa late C17, extended C20. Rendered timber frame with brick infill. 2-span roof, gabled at front, hipped at rear and clad in new tiles. 2 brick axial stacks. Plan: Double depth plan. 2 front rooms either side of central entrance passage which leads to staircase and smaller service rooms at rear, the kitchen on left and dairy on right. Axial stacks between front and back rooms, the left with back-to-back fireplaces. C20 single storey extensions on RH (NW) side and at rear. Exterior: 2 storeys and attic (attic windows blocked). Twin gabled 2 window NE front. C20 2 and 3-light casements with glazing bars, ground floor left blocked. Central doorway with segmental fanlight, C20 door an C20 open porch. C20 casements on other elevations, SE with C20 bay windows, rear and NW with single storey C20 extensions. Interior: Some exposed timber framing. RH room has unchamfered ceiling beam and large brick fireplace with unchamfered timber lintel; LH room has boxed-in ceiling beam and C20 chimneypiece; rear left room has large chamfered ceiling beam. Good circa late Cl7 dog-leg staircase with moulded string and rail, turned balusters and square newels with caps, second flight to attic has stick balusters and newel with finial. Old plank doors and some C19 joinery including panelled doors. Originally garrets in attic. Twin-span roof with collars, clasped purlins and common rafter couples intact.
