2/26 Secondlodge Farmhouse, approx 800 metres N of Chicksands Priory

GV II

House. Early C17 with additions and alterations Cl8 and later. Timber-framed construction with colourwashed roughcast render. Clay tile roof. L-plan with C18 block within angle to N. 2 storeys. Single storeyed C19 outbuildings to SW. N elevation: earlier LH gable has substantial external 2-stage chimney stack in coursed ironstone and limestone. To R of chimney is 2-storeyed gabled porch, with 4-centred arch to ground floor and pointed-arched light to first floor. C18 RH gable has 2 casement windows to ground floor and one casement to first floor, the latter of 3 leaded lights. Other elevations have variety of windows, mostly casements, some leaded. E elevation has projecting red brick 2-stage chimney stack, the top of the lower stage with ogival brickwork. C20 single-storeyed addition to SE angle. Interior: ground floor room retains late C17 wall painting showing unicorn, lion, flowers and names Samuell Pryer and Elizabeth Pryer.
