Details
ROCHFORD Stroud Green, TQ 89 SE Hall Road, 6/321 Shangri- La II Cottage.Late C18 possibly extended in C19 and with small C20 addition. Weatherboarded timber frame. White painted at front and rear. Plain tile roof with gabled end and cat slides at rear. Large red brick Stack at left end and another on left. side of outshut. One-room plan,with direct entry from doorway on right of front. Heated from stack at left end and with winder staircase in rear righthand corner and integral cupboards on right side. The rear outshut with its left side stack may be a C19 addition. 2 Storeys 3 window front late C19 or C20 wooden casements, 2 light on first floor and 3 light on left of ground floor with horizontal glazing has only doorway on right with plank door, now enclosed in C20 brick porch. Plank door at centre at rear with 1-light casement on right and very small casement flanking left and right. Brick single storey outshut added on left side is circa mid C20. Interior Principal room in front range has chamfered vous-beam within step stops and exposed unchamfered joists, large fireplace on left side has wooden chimney piece with moulded cornice to mantel shelf. Cupboards in rear left corner with panelled doors and shaped shelves. The right hand side has integral cupboards with plank doors at bottom inscribed 'IF1784'. Similar inscription on left jamb of chimney piece. First floor not inspected.
