Former bank barn. C16 or C17 with some C19 accretions. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings; dry slate roofs, the main part stepped up to the right and with hip on right; cast-iron ogee gutters. Rectangular plan plus large porch to centre of front and later lean-to at far right of front plus lean-to at rear opposite. EXTERIOR: single storey but floored probably in the C18 or early C19 when extra windows with segmental rubble arches were inserted to rear. Front has large central porch with large original round-arched doorway with ball stops; later window above; original outshut with small window to right of porch, later outshut to left; 3 buttresses to main barn front left of porch; window and altered doorway right of porch. Right-hand return has large loading doorway from bank, now blocked. Left hand return is buttressed and has enlarged central window over window. Buttressed rear has 2 original chamfered slit ventilators, now blocked. INTERIOR: has C20 partitions; roof structure not inspected but may be of interest. A very early surviving farm building in this region, converted from a conventional threshing barn into a bank barn in the late C18/early C19.
