BARLING MAGNA MUCKING HALL ROAD TQ 98 NW 12/50 Mucking Hall GV II House, of 2 main builds, the older C16 or earlier, timber framed, the later early C19 gault brick faced. Red plain tiled hipped roofs. Plastered south face. Plastered chimney stacks to each range. Loggia to left return with cast iron brackets. 2 storeys and attics. Parapet, of 3 bays, small paned vertically sliding sashes, gauged brick arches, French window to ground floor right. Central recessed 4-panel 2-light door, fluted surround, frieze, flat canopy. Interior features include restored inglenook fireplace. Crown post roof now with braces cut away. 6 panel doors, fluted surrounds with lion head paterae. Stone fire surround. One of the Manors of Barling. Moated site. RCHM 2.
