5/13 Harvey's Farmhouse
- II
House. C15 or earlier origin with later alterations and additions. Timber framed and plastered. Red plain tiled roof, lower range to left, hipped crosswing with gablet to right. External right and off centre left chimney stacks. 2 storey jettied crosswing to right with curved jetty brackets. One storey and attics, central range with gabled dormer, possibly single storey left range. 1:1:1 mainly 3 light diamond leaded casement windows, those to crosswing with 3 light raised sidelights. C20 gabled porch to left of old timber, to left of crosswing the main roof is outshot over a small extension. There appears to be a painted tusk tenon to right of the gabled porch. Said to contain a door with old strap hinges. No access allowed at time of re-survey. RCHM 11. It is not yet known who occupied this building 1796. F.H. Erith "Ardleigh in 1796", 1978.
