NORTH LODGE BONEMILL LANE NZ 25 SE (South side) 4/46 Piers, walls and gates, 60 metres west of Harraton Lodge II
Piers, walls and gates. Circa 1815 by Ignatius Bonomi for John Lambton, later 1st. Earl of Durham. Ashlar sandstone walls and piers; iron gates. Pair of tall gate piers, 4 end piers and serpentine linking walls. Classical style.
Large 2-stage gate piers. Tall corniced lower stage has chamfered rustication, set-back round-arched niche with console keystone and imposts. Shorter pedestal- like upper stage has recessed carved panel (with Ram's head and festoon) flanked by piers; plinth, dentilled cornice and blocking course break forward at ends.
Tall quadrant walls with plinth and stepped coping. Short end sections of convex quadrant wall framed by battered piers with chamfered rustication and shaped caps.
Pair of large gates with narrow side panels: close-set bars and dogbars with spike finials; double top rail with linked half-circles.
