WALDRIDGE WALDRIDGE ROAD NZ 24 NE (south side, off) 7/68 Waldridge Hall Farmhouse 1.2.67 - II

Large farmhouse. C18 rear wing; main block added c.1796 probably by David Stephenson. Coursed rubble (patches of render on first floor of main block); Welsh slate roofs and rebuilt brick chimney stacks. L-plan.

2-storey, 6-bay main block. Small tetrastyle Tuscan porch. 2 partly-glazed doors under porch. Flanking 12-pane sashes in flat-faced surrounds with projecting sills. Elongated 18-pane sashes above in identical surrounds. 4 delicate cast- iron balconies on first floor windows flanking centre. Eaves cornice with short returns. Low parapet has stepped centre with urn. Roof has coped gables and end stacks. Earlier 2-storey wing on right rear has altered fenestration.

Interior of main block: 6-panel doors in wood architraves; 3-flight, open-well staircase with column-on-vase balusters; staircase hall ceiling with modillion cornice.

Brick porch on rear wing, and extruded addition on rear of main block, are not of special interest.
