PITTINGTON ELEMORE HALL NZ 34 SE (South side, off) 8/32 Ice house circa 100 metres north- east of Elemore Hall GV II
Ice house to Elemore Hall (q.v.). Adapted as air raid shelter in World War II. Probably C18. Brick with ashlar and concrete dressings; earth mound. Circa 3-metre diameter round structure; entrance passage demolished. Broken ashlar lintel and brick jambs to doorway of which upper part is blocked with concrete slab. Brick domed roof visible above lintel where earth is eroded. Interior shows drop of c.2 metres to level of fill; brick dome.
