3/158 Paddock Cottage, including 24/3/71 boundary wall to road GV (formerly listed as Nos 38 and 39 (Paddock Cottage) II Formerly listed as Nos 38 and 39. Detached cottage. Late C16 - early C17. Brick walls. Thatched roof. Brick end stacks. L-shaped plan. One storey and attic. Gable end of wing at right angles to road has brick buttress. Plat band at first floor level, stepped up over ground floor window - this now altered to french door. Above this a casement window with glazing bars under brick hoodmould. Some burnt header decoration. Wing parallel to road has C20 french door and one casement with glazing bars on ground floor, and one dormer with similar casement. Internally, ground floor room in projecting wing has large open fireplace - cob backed - with timber lintol and bread oven. Some deep chamfered ceiling beams. Other ground floor room has large open fireplace with traces of bread oven. Brick boundary wall to road, with rounded capping. An attractive house. RCHM Monument 30.
