II
Farmhouse. C17 origin, largely rebuilt 1765 - Diary of James Frampton. Walls part brick, part stone, part brick and flint banding. Tiled roof with stone eaves courses. Brick stacks. L-shaped plan. Main front range of 1765. Rear kitchen wing appears C17. Both ranges have later lean-to additions at rear, of brick with slate roofs. Main front elevation - west - of two storeys and attics. Brick walls, dentil cornice at eaves. Central doorway with stone surround, flat hood on stone brackets. Two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, and keystones to arches. Three similar windows to first floor. One dormer to attic with casements with lead lights. North gable wall of stone, with brick details. Rear wing has walls of brick and flint banding, and stone quoins. Two-light stone mullioned windows on ground and first floors, with lead lights. South elevation has brick walls, and double-hung sash windows with glazing bars to ground and first floors. Attic has two dormers with casements. Later added conservatory. Internally the south ground floor room has a large chimney stack and fireplace with four-centred stone arch - may be re-set. (Large ovens behind this removed fairly recently). Former external - now internal door in rear wing has semi-circular stone arch. 1 deep chamfered ceiling beam. RCHM Monument 7.
