Details
HAMPRESTON SZ 09 NE CHRISTCHURCH ROAD (South) 12/20 Hillamsland Farmhouse - II House. C17 lobby entrance house of three bays, with a mid C19 'Tudor' cross wing. Brick walls of English bond to the old part, Flemish bond with blue heads to the later, some Dutch flat arches with chamfered reveals, hood moulds and kneelers. Tile roof, two stacks (one original) with coupled diagonal flues (C19). An east-west block, with the west gable reconstituted as the north side of a more elaborate west front, to form an L-shape. West elevation of symmetrical design, 1½ storeys, 3 windows, the north side gable being repeated in smaller scale above the half-dormers. 'Tudor' windows with hood moulds, 2-lights above 3-lights and one in the centre; casements. Mid C19 gabled porch, timber framed with boarded panels; half glazed, with a 4-centred arch, a plain oval-arched doorway and 5-panelled (top glazed) door. The other elevations are plain and irregular, with catslides within the angle; the north elevation has two C17 moulded wood casements with metal lights. Inside, the main feature is a massive fireplace, with a bread oven at the north side. RCHM
