Details

CASTLETON ST 61 NW SHAFTESBURY ROAD (A30) 5/24 Blackmarsh Farmhouse 11.7.51 and attached farm- building to west.

GV II Attached Farmhouse. C18 house with early C19 south wing added. Stone walls, plain, and in south range stuccoed and painted. Slate roofs, with gable-end to west and hipped to east. Rendered stacks on west gable, and at rear, of south range. Two storeys. 3 windows to south elevation: tripartite sashes and marginal glazing-bars. One sash at right upper, and a blocking below. Doorway at centre with moulded architrave and keystone. Flush and fielded-panel door, early C19. Fanlight with glazing- bars over. Cambered stone lintels. Front door position, currently in the angle between house and farmbuilding: 6 flush-panel door, with a top light with glazing-bars over, C19. Attached range between house and barn: rubble- stone walls. Clay-tile roof. 1½ storeys. From left to right: four low segmental brick arches carried on square brick piers (car stalls). 2- and 3-light casements. 2 loft doors over. Two gabled dormers towards right hand end, casements with glazing-bars.
