NETHER COMPTON ST 5917 NETHER COMPTON VILLAGE 13/61 Lower Dairy Farmhouse 11.7.51 GV II
Former farmhouse, now private dwelling. Dated A 1661 RR, WR, TH on stone in front wall, with C19 and C20 refenestration. Coursed rubble stone walls. Roman-tile roof with gable-ends. Stone gable-copings at right hand gable, and at front gable. Brick stacks at left gable, ridge centre. Right gable stack taken down. Two storeys. 2 windows, to right of front range; which projects at right angles. 3-light casement, leaded, top left. 12 pane and 16 pane sashes with glazing-bars, wood lintels. Front range: 1½ storeys, two 3-light C20 casements with glazing-bars. Rear elevation, has the main door position in C19 extension, altered, C20, at rear. Plank door in wood frame. Interior: flagstone floors. Mid-chamfered ceiling-beams. Open stone fireplace, early C16 reset perhaps, has moulded stone jambes and straight-chamfered Tudor arch head. Single large lintel block, and bowtell- moulded stone cornice over. (RCHM, Dorset I, p 102(8)).
