Detached cottage, originally lodge to Ilsington House (qv). Dated on plaque 1869. Brick walls with burnt headers, stone dressings and quoins. Slate roof with bargeboards to gables. One brick stack at right end, one near left end. T-shaped plan. 2 storeys. Projecting gabled wing at left end. In this, on ground floor, a canted bay window with battlemented parapet. 4 round headed lights, with stone mullions, arches and keystones; sashes with glazing bars. On first floor a 2-light window of similar detail. Bracketed cills. Right of the gable a wing set back. In the angle a porch with battlemented parapet. Panelled door with fanlight in round arched opening with stone jambs, arch and keystone. Round arched window with sashes with glazing bars in return wall. In the right wing, a 2-light window on ground floor, as on first floor of gable. On first floor, one 2-light and one single-light window, square headed, with stone surrounds, bracketed cills, and sashes with glazing bars. At the rear, a small detached outbuilding - probably originally a wash-house, in matching construction; single storey with octagonal chimney shaft.
