5/78 Fiddleford Mill House 4.10.60 G.V. I
Manor House, now 2 houses probably for William Latimer. Late C14 hall and solar with northward extensions to the solar in the C16 and C18 and some C17 remodelling. Coursed rubble, hall roof tiled, solar stone slated and long north range slated with stone slate verges. Gable ends, ashlar dressings. North range of 2 storeys. It has hollow chamfered stone mullioned windows of 1, 2 and 3-lights. Brick stacks at ridge and gable ends of hall. West porch has a 'tudor' arch. Reused carved stonework incorporated in C18 addition. The cusp arch-braced collar-beam roofs with cusped wind braces in the hall and solar are outstanding. Hall has moulded, decorated screens passage doors, and C16 fireplace. The solar has an undercroft with plank and muntin partitions and other early woodwork. The north range has C16 fireplaces a C16 plaster ceiling and stud partitions, together with other C16 and C17 woodwork. Scheduled as an ancient monument.
