SOUTH HUISH GALMPTON SX 64 SE 4/86 Poole Cottage and Rose Cottage

G. V. II

Pair of cottages. Circa early C18. Rendered rubble walls. Gable ended thatch roof with stone coping at right-hand end. Projecting rendered stack at each gable end, probably rebuilt in C20. Plan: each house has a 2-room plan, the outer one of each is heated, the right- hand cottage projects slightly suggesting the building may be of 2 phases. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front. Poole Cottage to left has C20 2-light casements with a C19 4-panel door to left of centre under thatch hood. Rose Cottage to the right projects slightly and has C20 2-light casements on the ground floor and an early C19 12-pane horizontal sliding sash on the 1st floor to the right. Doorway in porched rear. Interior: inaccessible at time of survey.
