Church Park Cottage

G. V.
II

Cottage. Circa mid C17 with C20 addition. Rendered stone rubble walls which may
incorporate some cob. Gable ended slate roof. Rendered rubble stack with brick
shaft at left gable end. Brick axial stack.
Plan: originally 2-room plan, with probably only the larger left-hand room heated
by a fireplace on its end wall with newel stair behind. 1 room C20 addition at
right-hand end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 2-window front, 3 on the ground floor. C20 2-
light casements, the 1st floor ones in gabled early C20 doorhood on wooden struts.
Right-hand end of house is C20 addition. The window on the ground floor of left-
hand gable end has a stone dripcourse above it. Oven projection to stack behind
which is a small stair light.
Interior: access very limited, although an C18 2-panel door was seen. Features
such as original fireplace, beams and newel stairs may also survive, although they
might have been subject to early C20 modernisation.
